Acts to look out for: Cavalier Rose
Cavalier Rose is a rock band that is situated in Brooklyn, and has been “touring” and appearing in several venues as well as websites, in which you can hear their live versions of their music. Cavalier Rose first formed during 2009 after the band members have gathered together to talk with one another about music and other subjects. After some rehearsals the band started recording themselves and releasing their material in independent digital distribution websites, where they offer their albums for cheap and offer some tracks for free.
The band moved to a sheep farm to record their sessions, which is reminiscent of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ famous session. During the recording they were aided by engineer Dave Raymond, who is also a friend of the group.
Once the group finished recording they returned to New York to appear in front of an audience, and they have been doing so every since, and you can see them play in small places, if you so wish to.
They so far released only two albums – an EP called Primary Colors, which is their main album, and an album of demos from October 2009, both of which they offer completely free.
The band originally started in a dorm room, where part of its members – Garrett and Chase, who only met during a visit to Philadelphia, due to them living in completely different locations. They were both undergraduates in the University of Pennsylvania, where they were for four years, which allowed them to play music together, privately or publicly, and exchange musical tastes and interests.
After they graduated, the two met other musicians and played with them as well, until they found who would be later on their band collaborators, in Brooklyn. They later on recorded some demos together and later on found a singer to front the group.
